Man Indicted For Raping Mentally Disabled Woman

A Lake Brownwood man is indicted for sex crimes against a mentally disabled woman. According to court records Jason Smith sexually assaulted the woman twice in April at her Waterford Drive home. Police say the 20-year-old victim had the mental capacity of an eight-to-ten-year old.

Tips Needed To Find Missing Woman

Police are looking for tips to find a missing Brownwood woman. 41-year-old Angela Kinsley hasn’t been seen since the first part of May. She’s 5-2, 150 pounds with red hair and green eyes. Call police at 325-646-2525 if you know of Kinsley’s whereabouts.

Suspect Arrested In Early Arson

Early Police arrest one of the two suspects indicted in a November arson where a meth lab had been operating. Police say Richard Crawford was taken into custody on Sunday and the search continues for the other suspect whose name was not released.

Click It Or Ticket Continues Through June 3

Area law enforcement agencies are joining with the Texas Department of Public Safety increasing their patrols for those not wearing seat belts. The Click It or Ticket campaign runs through June 3. Officials say so far in 2018 nearly half of fatal crashes in the area involved those not wearing a seat belt.

Two Crashes In Early

Two crashes Tuesday in Early resulted in two people being hospitalized. Police say the first crash was in the 100 block of Early Boulevard where a SUV flipped on its side.The other involved a semi-truck that hit a car then fled the scene and the car’s driver was hurt.

Wanted Brownwood Man Arrested

A Brownwood man wanted on two arrest warrants was taken into custody last Saturday. Police say Jesse Roper was spotted in the 1300 block of Durham and took off on foot but was apprehended a short distance away. Roper was found to be in possession of drugs and paraphenalia.

CHS Principal Dies

Comanche High School’s Principal has died. According to school district officials Vinson Pierce died in his sleep Saturday. The cause of the 34-year-old’s death is being determined. Pierce is survived by his wife Stacy and their three children.

Early House Fire Shuts Down Road

A road in Early is shut down Sunday as firemen worked on getting a residential blaze under control. Authorities say it was in the 2000 block of FM 2525 and a number of department responded to the home. So far there’s been no word on a cause or if anyone was hurt.

Man Wanted In Brownwood Pursuit Arrested

A Brownwood man wanted in connection with a police pursuit Thursday is under arrest. Authorities say David Martin took off when officers tried to stop him on 13th Street eventually abandoning his car and fleeing on foot. Martin was arrested on Friday.

Comanche County Property Appraisals Mailed Out

Comanche County property owners will see increases in their assessments for next year. Officials say the county appraisal district is beneath market value in many categories including single family residences and commercial real estate. Taxpayers will have an opportunity to appeal the new valuation.
